The Corn Cob Burner
Being quite handy in construction, Mr. Vannier renovated the old corn cob burner into two guest rooms both 16 feet in diameter with regulation 8 foot high ceilings. Renovating the old cob burner into two guest rooms was not an easy task. It required layers of fire brick to be removed from the inside. Then brick from the outside of the structure was removed to create the openings for windows and doors. After all of his hard work, the structure once used to incinerate corn cobs at the old grain elevator, was now a modern motel complete with hot and cold running water for showers and screened in porches. When staying at the Boatel’s renovated corn cob burner, a hot meal or refreshing beverage was just across a swinging bridge attached to the restaurant. |
